Stephen H. Eggers
Steven H. Eggers is a seasoned investor, deal facilitator and policy contributor with more than four decades of experience in the energy sector and extensive engagements across all segments of the sector including trading, refining, distribution, power operations and shipping. Mr. Eggers has a global footprint in energy investments having conducted some of the ground breaking deals across Africa, Asia, Eastern Europe and the United States.
He is the first independent supplier to several developing countries around the world, mainly in Africa. As part of this achievement, Mr. Eggers built the largest independent oil distribution system in East Africa, with ocean terminals in Mombasa and Dar Es Salaam, supplying supplied Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, Malawi, and the eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo. The system included two coastal tankers, one hundred tractor-trailer trucks, and fifty railcars.
He also operated KOBIL, formerly called Mobil Kenya, under a contract that included the purchase of crude and the operation of the KOBIL share of the Kenya refinery. Testament to his acumen in facilitating trades and investing in the energy sector, Mr. Eggers was the first to bring oil to the United States from both the Soviet Union and China. At one time, Mr. Eggers was the largest blender of gasoline in the United States.
He privatized the Pavlodar Refinery, the largest refinery in Kazakhstan and the second largest processing refinery in the former Soviet Union. His successful investments also include previous ownership of numerous tankers, ranging from one thousand to two hundred and fifty thousand DWT.
Mr. Eggers is globally renowned in the energy sector, previously representing several developing countries, including NNPC and PERTOMOC in Mozambique, at the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) meetings and other international congresses. His network of strong business and professional relationships include state owned companies such as Sonangol, Lireco, SNH, Sinochem, Sinopec, Petrochina, and PTT.
He has done business with nearly every major oil company in the world, and dealt with a majority of the most significant oil traders.ices
